Ral Colony Bangla: Bengali of a special flavour.

Ral Colony Bangla refers to the language spoken by Bengalis in Railway Colonies of North East Frontier Railways like Lumding, Badarpur, Dimapur, Pandu, etc. Earlier majority of the staff of North East Frontier Railways were Bengali speaking people whose ancestors were from erst while East Pakistan ( Now BanglaDesh). Ral Colony Bangla developed from the confluence of many dialects of Bangla like Maimanshingi, Chittagangi, Naokhali, Dhakaia, Shyletti etc. and even it has been influenced by Assamese and Bhojpuri.


Ral Colony Bangla sounds different from the other dialects or Bangla proper or Suddha Bangla. This language is in use even today.

Linguistics researchers, Sociology of language students and people interested in people and culture of North east will find this language very interesting for study.
