The Khondols of Baskandi : A case for Medical Tourism

The Khondols of Baskandi in Barak Valley of Assam are indigenous medical practitioners specialising in bone fracture and dislocation of bone treatment. Based in Baskandi, a suburb near Silchar, Assam, the khondols have been treating patients of bone fracture and bone dislocation from generations in their traditional way which they have learnt from their ancestors. Many patients have appreciated their work . Some patients have reported that the Khondols are even able to treat fractures otherwise difficult in allopathy medical system or which need surgery.

The medical practices of the khondols can be of interest of study for the researchers of Medical Anthropology, Medical Sociology, Alternative medicines and others studying the domain of indigenous medical systems in different parts of the world.
