Projects and Educational Publishers

It is very unfortunate  that the objective of introducing Project work for encouraging the students to think and apply the concepts they learn in specific disciplines to real life experience or observation has been thwarted by the so called  educational publishing houses in our country. The objective of introducing project work was to discourage students from developing rote learning as illuminated in the National Curriculum Framework. On analysis of the educational scenario, it is observed that the educational publishers are publishing ready made projects on multiple themes which are authored by  the so called educational experts. The students find it handy to buy these projects from the market and submit them for evaluation. As a result they are once again resorting to copy paste culture which will stand in the transformation of our education system from a rote learning system to assimilative system through which students assimilate various concepts and theories and models in various disciplines and are able to apply them in real life situations. The government, educationists, parents and other stake holders should discourage the so called educational publishers from publishing trash project guidelines.
